Rascal Flatts History (2000- )

Rascal Flatts has proven that they are not just another country act but a country-crossover phenomenon.

Rascal Flatts: The New Kids

Rascal Flatts, country music’s biggest stars, consist of band members Gary LeVox (lead vocals), LeVox’s second cousin, Jay DeMarcus (bass guitar, vocals) and Joe Don Rooney (lead guitar, vocals). Breaking into the music scene in 2000, Rascal Flatts has broken musical barriers in not only country music but all genres of music.

Rascal Flatts: Debut

In 2000 after singing in Nashville, Tennessee for a couple of years in bars, Rascal Flatts released their first album entitled Rascal Flatts which went double platinum on the strength of singles "Praying For Daylight" and "I'm Movin' On." In 2000 Rascal Flatts won the ACM Top New Vocal Duo or Group award.

Rascal Flatts: Melting America

In 2002, Rascal Flatts released their second album entitled Melt which went on to be a three-time platinum record that featured the single “These Days” which reached the No. 1 spot on the country charts and the No. 23 spot on the Billboard Pop charts. Later that year, Rascal Flatts won the CMA Horizon Award and led to the nods as both the ACM's and CMA's Vocal Group of the Year. Rascal Flatts also headlined their first tour which sold out in every city.

Rascal Flatts: Feels Like Today

In 2004 Rascal Flatts released their third album entitled Feels Like Home that debuted at No. 1 on both the pop and country charts. The album sold five million copies and went on to be a five- time platinum album that featured the single “Bless the Broken Road,” which stayed at No. 1 on the Billboard charts for five weeks, In 2005 Rascal Flatts went on the road to promote the album which resulted in Rascal Flatts having the No. 2 tour of 2005 with 750, 000 fans in 70 cities. Rascal Flatts went on to win two Grammy Awards for Country Song of the Year and Vocal Performance all for “Bless the Broken Road.” Rascal Flatts also won the ACM award for Top Vocal Group and a CMA for Vocal Group as well.

Rascal Flatts: Me and My Gang

In 2006 Rascal Flatts released their fourth album entitled Me and My Gang which debuted again at No. 1 on both country and pop charts selling 721,000 copies in the first week alone. The Me and My Gang album went on to later become a four-time platinum selling album, totaling 4,580,670 copies in the US alone. The album featured the singles “What Hurts the Most” which reached the No. 1 spot on the country charts and the No. 6 spot on the pop charts, “Me and My Gang,” “Life is a Highway,” “My Wish” which hit the No. 1 spot on the country charts, and “Stand.” 2006 also marked the year that Rascal Flatts became the top selling artist of 2006 across all genres of music. Rascal Flatts’ 2006 74-city tour sold out in 61 of those cities for over one million fans.

Rascal Flatts: Still Feels Good

In 2007, Rascal Flatts released their fifth album entitled Still Feels Good which sold 547, 000 copies in the first week alone making the album a double platinum sell out. The Still Feels Good album debuted at No. 1 again on both the country and pop charts with singles “Take Me There” which reached the No. 1 spot on Billboards Country charts, “Winner at a Losing Game” which reached No. 2 on Billboards Country charts and “Everyday.” Rascal Flatts recently won a CMT Music Award for Group Video of the Year for “Take Me There,” an ACM Award for Top Vocal Group and an ACM Humanitarian Award in May 2008.

Rascal Flatts: Current News & Tours

Rascal Flatts is promoting their fifth album Still Feels Good. Rascal Flatts is currently touring with upcoming young country music star Taylor Swift during the Still Feels Good Tour throughout Summer 2008.
