Sugarland Stay Lyrics:
I've been sitting here staring at the clock on the wall
And I've been laying here praying, praying she won't call
It's just another call from home
And you'll get it and be gone
And I'll be crying

And I'll be begging you, baby
Beg you not to leave
But I'll be left here waiting
With my Heart on my sleeve
Oh, for the next time we'll be here
Seems like a million years
And I think I'm dying

What do I have to do to make you see
She can't love you like me

Why don't you stay
I'm down on my knees
I'm so tired of being lonely
Don't I give you what you need
When she calls you to go
There is one thing you should know
We don't have to live this way
Baby, why don't you stay

You keep telling me, baby
There will come a time
When you will leave her arms
And forever be in mine
But I don't think that's the truth
And I don't like being used and I'm tired of waiting
It's too much pain to have to bear
To love a man you have to share

Why don't you stay
I'm down on my knees
I'm so tired of being lonely
Don't I give you what you need
When she calls you to go
There is one thing you should know
We don't have to live this way
Baby, why don't you stay

I can't take it any longer
But my will is getting stronger
And I think I know just what I have to do
I can't waste another minute
After all that I've put in it
I've given you my best
Why does she get the best of you
So next time you find you wanna leave her bed for mine

Why don't you stay
I'm up off my knees
I'm so tired of being lonely
You can't give me what I need
When she begs you not to go
There is one thing you should know
I don't have to live this way
Baby, why don't you stay, yeah

Sugarland Stay: Background
The lyrics for the song “Stay” were penned entirely by Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland, a country-music band. Jennifer Nettles sings lead vocals while Kristian Bush provides acoustic guitar in the background. Sugarland’s “Stay” was the final single from the band’s wildly successful 2006 album Enjoy the Ride and hit the country-radio airwaves in September 2007. The single became Sugarland’s eighth single to chart, reaching No. 2 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

Sugarland Stay: Song Meaning
Fans who have bought Sugarland tickets in the past have not heard a song such as “Stay” from Sugarland before. The song lyrics for “Stay” are written from the unique perspective of a mistress to a man who is being unfaithful to his wife. In the beginning of the song, the mistress wants the man to stay, but toward the end she realizes that she doesn’t have to be “the other woman” and deserves to be with someone who is fully hers. Jennifer Nettles was inspired by the 1986 Reba McEntire single “Whoever’s in New England,” a song where a married woman addresses her unfaithful husband.

Sugarland Stay: Song & Video Success
Sugarland’s corresponding music video for “Stay” featured Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush performing the song acoustically. Even as stripped down as the song and video were, the music video appeared at No. 10 on CMT’s 100 Greatest Videos list. With the song and video’s success, Sugarland tickets have been one of the hottest tickets in the country-music world. The song won the 2008 CMA Award for “Song of the Year” as well.

Sugarland Stay: Live & On Tour
Fans with Sugarland tickets to the band’s first headlining tour were some of the first fans to hear the rousing ballad “Stay” performed live. After winning the 2007 CMA Award for “Vocal Duo of the Year,” Sugarland received a standing ovation after performing a stripped-down, honest performance of the single “Stay.” Fans were eager to buy Sugarland tickets to hear “Stay” in concert along with other Sugarland hits from Enjoy the Ride and earlier Sugarland albums.

In September 2008, Sugarland went back on tour in support of their latest album Love on the Inside. Fans with Sugarland tickets heard the emotional “Stay” along with the flirtier single “All I Want to Do” and the powerful “Already Gone” off of Love on the Inside. Sugarland tickets will also include other hits, including “Baby Girl,” “Just Might Make Me Believe,” “Settlin’,” and more. Sugarland’s opening acts included country-music rising star Ashton Shepherd and former American Idol darling Kellie Pickler. Order premium Sugarland tickets from OnlineTickets.com today!
