Owner of a Lonely Heart Lyrics:
Move yourself
You always live your life
Never thinking of the future
Prove yourself
You are the move you make
Take your chances win or loser
See yourself
You are the steps you take
You and you - and that's the only way
Shake - shake yourself
You're every move you make
So the story goes
Owner of a lonely heart
Owner of a lonely heart
(Much better than – a)
Owner of a broken heart
Owner of a lonely heart
Say - you don't want to chance it
You've been hassled before
Watch it now
The eagle in the sky
How he dancin' one and only
You - lose yourself
No not for pity's sake
There's no real reason to be lonely
Be yourself
Give your free will a chance
You've got to want to succeed
Owner of a lonely heart
Owner of a lonely heart
(Much better than – a)
Owner of a broken heart
Owner of a lonely heart
(Owner of a lonely heart)
After my own decision
They confused me so
(Owner of a lonely heart)
My love said never question your will at all
In the end you've got to go
Look before you leap
(Owner of a lonely heart)
And don't you hesitate at all - no no
Owner of a lonely heart
Owner of a lonely heart
(Much better than – a)
Owner of a broken heart
Owner of a lonely heart
Owner of a lonely heart
Owner of a lonely heart
(Much better than – a)
Owner of a broken heart
Owner of a lonely heart
(Owner of a lonely heart)
Sooner or later each conclusion
Will decide the lonely heart
(Owner of a lonely heart)
It will excite it will delight
It will give a better start
(Owner of a lonely heart)
Don't deceive your free will at all
Don't deceive your free will at all
(Owner of a lonely heart)
Don't deceive your free will at all
Just receive it, just receive it
Owner of a Lonely Heart: 90215
After a break from Yes in 1979, vocalist Jon Anderson returned for the biggest album in the band’s career, 90215, in 1983. Fans who had bought Yes tickets for over a decade were excited that the legendary frontman was returning, but they did not expect the success of the album. “Owner of a Lonely Heart” was the first track on and the second single off of 90215, and it became a No. 1 hit. Others hits from 90215 like “It Can Happen” along with other hits in the discography helped Yes tickets become some of the hottest tickets on the 1980s.
Owner of a Lonely Heart: Legacy
Though it was originally composed as a ballad, “Owner of a Lonely Heart” was instead given a ton of teeth with excellent guitar work and deep keyboard melodies. The sound laid down by “Owner of a Lonely Heart” did not just influence the sales of Yes tickets and albums but also gave a basis for a musical movement by other bands. “Owner of a Lonely Heart” has also been the most covered Yes song, with bands from genres ranging from Country to Industrial taking up the lyrics. “Owner of A Lonely Heart” is even a hit mp3 thanks to its impact in popular culture.
Owner of a Lonely Heart: On Tour
The 2008 Yes tour is just getting started and thrills fans with Yes tickets thanks to two sets. “Owner of a Lonely Heart” is firmly entrenched on the second set list along with songs like “Parallels” and “Machine Messiah”. Fans with Yes tickets to the “In The Present” tour also hope that “Owner of a Lonely Heart” is performed in an acoustic set like it was for the 35th Yes anniversary tour. With Yes on the road again in 2008 and 2009, fans everywhere are bound to be saying “Yes!”
