Please Don’t Go Girl Lyrics:
We've been together for a long time, baby
Do you have to leave?
Please don't go girl
I just can't live without you
Please don't go girl
So listen to me... (Don't go, girl)
Please don't go girl
You would ruin my whole world
Tell me you'll stay
Never ever go away
I love you (I love you)
I guess I always will
Girl, you're my best friend
Girl, you're my love within
I just want you to know
That I will always love you
Ooh, baby
Tell me you'll stay
Never ever go away
I need you (I need you)
I guess I always will
Girl, you're my best friend
Girl, you're my love within
I just want you to know
That I will always love you
Ooh, baby
(Please don't go girl)
I'm gonna always love you girl
I'm gonna love you girl until the end of time
Tell me girl
You're gonna always be mine
Please don't go girl
You would ruin my whole world
Tell me you'll stay
Never ever go away
I love you (I love you)
I guess I always will
Girl, you're my best friend
Girl, you're my love within
I just want you to know
That I will always love you
Ooh, baby
(Please don't go girl)
(Please don't go girl)
Please don't go girl
(Please don't go girl)
Please don't go, baby
(Please don't go girl)
Please don't go girl
(Please don't go girl)
Please don't go darlin'
(Please don't go girl)
Please don't go, baby, no
Please Don’t Go Girl: Background
Veering away from their bubblegum-Pop sound on their self-titled debut album, New Kids on the Block took more control over their music on their second album Hangin’ Tough. With lyrics penned by producer Maurice Starr, the ballad “Please Don’t Go Girl” was released in Spring 1988 as the first single from Hangin’ Tough and would take a while to catch on with radio stations and fans alike.
Please Don’t Go Girl: Success
After going largely unnoticed by audiences, “Please Don’t Go Girl” started receiving airplay at a Florida radio station. As one of the most requested songs on the play list, “Please Don’t Go Girl” would become NKOTB’s first hit song and a favorite of fans with New Kids on the Block tickets. New Kids on the Block’s Columbia record label continued to promote the single, and the song shined in the national spotlight, eventually peaking at the No. 10 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Please Don’t Go Girl: On Tour
What has become one of their signature songs, “Please Don’t Go Girl” has been performed live for crowds upon crowds of screaming fans. New Kids on the Block ticketholders heard the single as NKOTB toured with the likes of Tiffany and during subsequent headlining tours of their own. Now, over two decades later, New Kids on the Block is back on a can’t miss reunion tour, performing their classic hits such as “You Got It (The Right Stuff),” “Hangin’ Tough,” and “Please Don’t Girl” among others.
Fans with New Kids on the Block tickets will also hear Donnie Wahlberg, Jordan Knight, Jonathan Knight, Danny Wood, and Joey McIntyre performing their latest hit songs such as “Single” and “Summertime” off of their 2008 album The Block to boot.
