Dead Memories Lyrics:
Sitting in the dark,
I can't forget.
Even now,
I realize the time
I'll never get.
Another story
Of the Bitter Pills of Fate.
I can't go back again.
I can't go back again
But you asked me
To love you and I did.
Traded my emotions
For a contract to commit.
And when I got away,
I only got so far.
The Other Me Is Dead.
I hear his voice inside my head
We were never alive,
And we won't be born again.
But I'll never survive
With Dead Memories in my heart.
You told me to love you
And I did.
Tied my soul into a knot
And got me to submit.
So when I got away,
I only kept my scars.
The Other Me Is Gone.
Now I don't know where I belong
And we were never alive,
And we won't be born again.
But I'll never survive
With Dead Memories in my heart.
Dead Memories in my heart
Dead Memories in my heart
Dead Memories in my heart
Dead Visions in your Name.
Dead Fingers in my Veins.
Dead Memories in my heart
Dead Memories in my heart
Dead Memories in my heart
Dead Memories in my heart
Dead Memories: All Hope Is Gone
Third Slipknot album Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses was the first to experiment with acoustic and softer songs, and this drew critical acclaim. Many fans with Slipknot tickets did not like the change at first, but the new sound has grown on many. The 2008 album All Hope is Gone continued to experiment with this sound change and gave lead singer Corey Taylor more room to explore his songwriting and vocal abilities. Songs coming from this style include “Snuff” and “Dead Memories”.
Dead Memories: Song Meaning
Inspired by the breakup with longtime wife Scarlet, Corey Taylor wrote “Dead Memories” to mourn the loss of a future together. “Snuff” later on All Hope is Gone covers similar territory but is focused more on short-term anger and betrayal. This theme is retained for a good portion of All Hope is Gone in much heavier songs like “Butcher’s Hook” and “This Cold Black”. Many skeptics initially turned off by Slipknot’s image have bought Slipknot tickets and started listening to more songs thanks to the focused and mature tone.
