Justin Buchholz: Start in Alaska

On August 22, 1983, Justin Buchholz – a future Ultimate Fighting Championship fighter was born in Fairbanks, Alaska. Justin Buchholz began his mixed martial arts career in the Alaska Fighting Championship (AFC). On February 16, 2005, Justin Buchholz competed in AFC 8, where he defeated Andy Garnand by submission in Round 1. Soon after, Justin Buchholz followed up with a victory on March 9, 2005 – this time against Jimmy Gainey in AFC 9. Later that year on June 8, 2005, Justin Buchholz defeated Bo Underwood during AFC 12. After three straight wins in a row, Justin Buchholz dropped a loss to Rodney Rhoden in AFC 22 on April 12, 2006.

Justin Buchholz: Move to Hawaii

With Justin Buchholz’s mixed martial arts/fighting career heating up, the young fighter found a warmer home in Honolulu, Hawaii, and began training with the Bulls Pen. Turned out the warm air was good for Justin Buchholz’s record as the MMA fighter reeled off four wins in a row. The first win came during Rumble On the Rock – Beatdown 2 on October 21, 2006. Justin Buchholz defeated opponent Arto Woods by submission (triangle choke) in Round 1. The second two wins for Justin Buchholz came in Icon Sport, where Justin Buchholz defeated Brandon Pieper by TKO on February 9, 2007, and Marshall Harvest with a knockout punch on March 31, 2007, to win the ICON state title. Later that year, Justin Buchholz competed in ELITE XC – Uprising and tallied a win over Ikaika Choy-Fu by TKO (strikes) on September 15, 2007.

Justin Buchholz: UFC Fight Night 12

Making his Ultimate Fighting Championship debut on January 23, 2008, Justin Buchholz stepped inside The Octagon for the first time in his young career, fighting on UFC Fight Night 12’s preliminary card. Facing off against fellow lightweight Matt Wiman, Justin Buchholz lost by submission (rear naked choke) in less than three minutes inside Palms Casino Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. With a taste of the UFC, Justin Buchholz is ready to take his mixed martial arts career to the next level, moving to Sacramento, California to train with WEC World Champ Urijah Faber at Ultimate Fitness Gym.

Justin Buchholz continues to train for his next fight, which is rumored to be on July 5, 2008, during UFC 86 in Las Vegas, Nevada’s Mandalay Bay Events Center. With light heavyweight fighters Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Forrest Griffin headlining the affair, Justin Buchholz would likely take on fellow lightweight Corey Hill, who currently holds a 2-0 MMA record. Justin Buchholz would do well to execute his good finishing skills and wrestling prowess to compete with his taller, lankier counterpart.
