Throughout NBA history, the NBA All Star Weekend has been a premier event that continues to entertain basketball fans season after season. Held on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, the NBA All Star Weekend is comprised of a plethora of events, exhibition games, and competitions. Events such as the Rookie Challenge, Slam Dunk contest, and Three Point Shootout are usually a favorite of fans with NBA All Star tickets.

NBA All Star Weekend: Friday
The NBA All Star Celebrity Game and Rookie Challenge headline All Star Friday tickets. The NBA All Star Celebrity Game features two teams comprised of actors, singers, and other celebrities. NBA All Star ticketholders saw singers Ne-Yo and Master P, actors Chris Tucker and James Lafferty, and sports stars Ruth Riley, Swin Cash, Floyd Mayweather, Deion Sanders out on the court and enjoyably out of their element.

The NBA All Star Rookie Challenge – formerly known as the “Rookie Game” – pits a team of standout rookies against a team of stellar sophomores. For two 20-minute halves, the Rookie Team and Sophomore Team will battle for a victory and bragging rights. During the 2008 NBA All Star Rookie Challenge, the sophomores ousted the rookies 136-109. NBA All Star Weekend: Saturday
On Saturday, a number of competitions take place, including the D-League All Star Game, featuring top players from the NBA Developmental League. Another big attraction is the Skills Challenge that lets point guards showcase their skills, be it in ball handling, dribbling, shooting, passing, and more. Fans with NBA All Star tickets for Saturday will also see the Shooting Stars competition.

The Three-Point Shootout is a popular attraction that lets the NBA’s best three-point shooters shine. Last year’s winner was Jason Kapono, who became the first back-to-back winner of the All-Star competition since Peja Stojakovic achieved the feat in 2002 and 2003. This year, the 3-Point Shootout participants include reigning champion Jason Kapono (Toronto Raptors), Roger Mason (San Antonio Spurs), Rashard Lewis (Orlando Magic), Daequan Cook (Miami Heat), Mike Bibby (Atlanta Hawks), and Danny Granger (Indiana Pacers).

The NBA All Star Slam Dunk Contest is one of the most exciting events of the entire weekend. Some of the NBA’s best dunkers will showcase their creativity and athletic ability. Last year, NBA fans everywhere were buzzing about 2008 Slam Dunk Champion Dwight Howard’s performance, which included a high-flying “Superman” dunk. During the 2009 event, fans with NBA All Star Saturday Night tickets will be treated to a barrage of monster slams as Dwight Howard, Nate Robinson, Rudy Gay, and fan vote Rudy Fernandez.

NBA All Star Weekend: Sunday
The main attraction of the entire weekend is the NBA All Star Game on Sunday. Last year, the Eastern Conference team eked by the Western Conference team in a close contest, 134-128.
