Roy Williams: Permian Panthers
Born in 1981 in Odessa, Texas, Roy Williams was exposed to the power of the “Friday Night Lights” early as the Odessa Permian Panthers were gods of the Texas town. High school football was and is religion in Odessa, and every boy grew up wanting to don the Black and White. As a boy Roy Williams watched his brother play on the 1988 Permian Panthers team that the novel and movie Friday Night Lights was based on. Tickets to see the Permian Panthers play surpassed even the demand for Dallas Cowboys tickets in the state of Texas!

When Roy Williams stepped onto the track and gridiron at Odessa Permian, he quickly earned the nickname “The Legend” as he exploded to the top of both football and track. With an impressive tall frame to go with blazing speed, Roy Williams hauled in any ball thrown his way and made a name for himself with acrobatic catches. Setting school records in football and track, Roy Williams earned two spots on the Permian Panthers “Paw of Fame”. The two-time All-State receiver got a ton of scholarship offers but quickly decided on the Texas Longhorns.

Roy Williams: Texas Longhorns
Roy Williams joined the Texas Longhorns in 2000 and was immediately a big part of Coach Mack Brown’s offensive plans. Roy Williams built an immediate relationship with QB Major Applewhite, and the two became a wrecking crew in the Big 12. The Texas Longhorns were still struggling with the Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas A&M Aggies for recruits, but Roy Williams managed to take the team to the 2001 Holiday Bowl. The emergence of QB Chris Simms and the arrival of RB Cedric Benson only helped Roy Williams.

The team of Roy Williams and Cedric Benson proved to be nearly unstoppable for opponents in the Big 12, but the Texas Longhorns could not get over the hated Oklahoma Sooners to reach the BCS Championship. Roy Williams burst onto the national stage as he helped Major Applewhite lead the Texas Longhorns in a record-breaking comeback in the 2001 Holiday Bowl. Roy Williams won the 2002 Cotton Bowl MVP award when he racked up almost 200 total yards and two touchdowns.

Roy Williams ended his four-year Texas Longhorns career holding the team’s all-time receiving record with almost 4,000 yards and 36 touchdowns. Roy Williams finished his senior year loaded down with awards and helped QB Vince Young develop while in Austin. Roy Williams had avoided leaving school early and was rewarded for his diligence by getting a grade as one of the top players in the 2004 NFL Draft.

Roy Williams: 2004 NFL Draft
The dealings of the Eli Manning trade in the 2004 NFL Draft overshadowed Roy Williams, and the shuffle at the top along with the emergence of Pittsburgh Panthers WR Larry Fitzgerald allowed the talented Texan to fall a few spots to the Detroit Lions. The pick would probably go down as the best draft pick ever made by Detroit Lions GM Matt Millen, and Roy Williams was ready for the NFL.

Roy Williams: Motor City MOJO
Roy Williams and fellow rookie RB Kevin Jones seemed to be the lone bright spots for the Detroit Lions in 2004. Roy Williams quickly became a fan favorite due to his ability to make a catch anywhere, even on the poorest of thrown balls. Future NFL-bust QB Joey Harrington did his best to get Roy Williams the ball, and he coupled with WR Carlos Rodgers to form an impressive tandem. Roy Williams ended his rookie campaign with eight touchdowns, and a star was born.

In his time with the Detroit Lions, Roy Williams received little help from the organization. The legendary incompetence of Matt Millen left the team devoid of talent, and Roy Williams ended up carrying the Detroit Lions on his back for years. In the 2006 NFL season, Roy Williams showed his leadership by racking up 1,300 yards and seven touchdowns on his way to the Pro Bowl. Roy Williams made it known that he loved his teammates but wanted to get out of Detroit. Fans with Dallas Cowboys tickets were excited as rumors had Roy Williams heading to the Dallas Cowboys football team.

Roy Williams: Heading Back to Texas
The 2007-08 NFL season finally saw Roy Williams get a great teammate in rookie WR Calvin Johnson. The pair of stud wideouts should have ruled the AFC easily, but poor coaching and personnel moves left Roy Williams and Calvin Johnson as the only talents on the entire Detroit Lions organization. With his contract being up in 2009, Roy Williams made it no secret that he would bolt from Detroit, and that the Dallas Cowboys football team was his destination. The Detroit Lions finally fired Matt Millen in 2008 and granted Roy Williams’ wish by trading him to the Dallas Cowboys.

Roy Williams: Dallas Cowboys
Fans with Dallas Cowboys tickets were ecstatic to see No. 11 stroll onto the field for the first time donning a Dallas Cowboys logo. With WR Terrell Owens, TE Jason Witten, RB Marion Barber, and QB Tony Romo, Roy Williams was on the best team he had ever played on. The temporary loss of Tony Romo to a finger injury was a big blow, but Roy Williams lassoed in a touchdown from backup QB Brad Johnson that sent fans with Dallas Cowboys tickets cheering. In front of thousands of his home-state fans inside of the Dallas Cowboys Texas Stadium, Roy Williams threw up the “Hook’em Horns” hand sign.

Tony Romo is nearly back to 100 percent and is scheduled to come back in no time at all. Fans with Dallas Cowboys tickets can hardly wait to see what the trio of Tony Romo, Terrell Owens, and Roy Williams can do. Even with poor quarterback play, Roy Williams has showed that he can catch any ball thrown close to him and this ability will be perfect for the last-second throws that have become a staple of Tony Romo’s arsenal. With Roy Williams on board with America’s Team, Dallas Cowboys tickets are sure to be one of the hottest tickets in the Lone Star State and nation at large!

Roy Williams: Future
Roy Williams is finally on a team worthy of his talent and has a QB that can actually get him the ball. With both Roy Williams and Tony Romo locked up for the better part of a decade with new contracts, the young duo could be winning games, setting Dallas Cowboys records, making plenty of football history, and headlining Dallas Cowboys tickets for 10 years or more. It truly is a match made in heaven for fans with Dallas Cowboys tickets as the home-state superstar lives the dream he had ever since he was a toddler in Odessa.
