Exploding onto the pop-music scene in the ‘70s, Cheap Trick combined the aggressive punk-rock riffs with highly melodic lines. This progressive power pop/arena rock sound allowed Cheap Trick to gain popularity among the hard-edged youth of that time. Cheap Trick has continued their reign on rock music over the years on the strength of smash singles “Surrender,” “The Flame,” and “I Want You to Want Me,” to name just a few.
For over 30 years, Cheap Trick has stayed at the forefront of the rock-music industry thanks to their unique instrument choices of guitars and basses, well-known lyrics, and a slew of platinum-selling albums such as Heaven Tonight (1978), At Budokan (1979), and Dream Police (1979). Cheap Trick’s latest album entitled Rockford (2006) takes its name from the band’s hometown of Rockford, Illinois.
