With five Grammy awards, 86 million albums sold, and a slew of No. 1 singles, The Eagles band has become a true icon in music history. Mixing both Country and Rock, The Eagles electrified fans with soulful lyrics and virtuoso guitar riffs and solos. At one time a backup band, The Eagles have soared to rock’n’roll superstardom as one of the biggest bands since The Beatles.
Eagles – the band’s first album – sold well with three Top 40 hits in “Take It Easy,” “Witchy Woman,” and “Peaceful Easy Feeling.” The Eagles followed up with Desperado, which spawned eventual fan favorites “Desperado” and “Tequila Sunrise.” The Eagles shifted more toward a Hard Rock feel for the next album On the Border, which produced The Eagles' first No. 1 single “Best of My Love.” One of These Nights featured chart toppers “Lyin’ Eyes” and Grammy winner “One of These Nights.”
Shortly after, the Eagles produced its career album Hotel California, with the single of the same name becoming The Eagles’ biggest hit and signature song. “New Kid in Town,” “Life in the Fast Lane,” and “The Last Resort” were other hits of note. Hotel California would sell 16 million copies making it the best selling studio album in history. Follow up The Long Run would sell 8 million copies and bear the No. 1 hit “Heartache Tonight.”
The Eagles broke up after The Long Run and would later reunite for tours but not studio albums. In 2007, The Eagles returned to the studio for the Grammy-winning, seven-times platinum album Long Road Out of Eden.
