Oakmont Country Club

Since 2001, the USGA Championship Committee has used the Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania as the host of the golf U.S. Open. The Oakmont Country Club has a prestige golf community including champions Ernie Els, Ben Hogan and Tommy Armour. The Oakmont Country Club has already provided the golf world with exciting finishes, including Johnny Miller’s record for the lowest score shot in a USGA championship, a 63 (-9), and the most championships than any other course in the U.S. The Oakmont Country Club has hosted other historic golf tournaments including five U.S. Amateur Championships, three PGA Championships, seven U.S. Opens, and one U.S. Women’s Open.

The 18-hole “Oakmont” course at the Oakmont Country Club features 7,229 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 71. The Oakmont Country Club was designed by Henry Clay Fownes, and opened in more than a century ago in 1903. Managed by General Manager Tom Wallace, the Oakmont Country Club golf course features a course rating of 76.8 and has a slope rating of 144, and is often referred to as one of the most difficult courses in North America. The Oakmont Country Club golf course has 180 deep bunkers, hard, slick greens that slope away from the play and tight fairways that require much precision.
