Born Enrique Miguel Iglesias Preysler in Madrid, Spain, Enrique Iglesias – the son of legendary Latin crooner Julio Iglesias – was destined to become a singer. However, Enrique Iglesias refused to use his famous last name to get ahead and used the name “Enrique Martinez” to land a record deal with Spanish indie label Fonovisa. In 1995, Enrique Iglesias released his Spanish-language self-titled debut, featuring the No. 1 singles “Si Tú Te Vas” and “Experiencia Religiosa.” The album won a Grammy for Best Latin Pop Performance.
Enrique Iglesias released his second Spanish-language album Vivir in 1997 to equal success.
