After winning a local battle of the bands contest, Muse decided to take their musical career seriously. Muse’s second EP Muscle Museum caught the attention of BBC Radio One personality Steve Lamacq, which landed the band much needed airplay.

Muse released their first album Showbiz the following year. The album’s success landed Muse a gig opening for the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Foo Fighters in 2000. In 2001, Muse released Origin of Symmetry, which went on to sell over 1 million albums worldwide. Muse released Absolution in 2003 on Mushroom Records. Absolution proved to be Muse’s big breakthrough record in the U.S. with the hit singles "Stockholm Syndrome," “Time Is Running Out” and “Hysteria.”

In 2006, Muse’s fourth album Black Holes & Revelations peaked at No. 9 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart and at No. 1 in England.
